How about a little Coaching for the Holidays?
If you live in the United States like I do, the holidays are here. And if you are an adult going through the holidays, I’m guessing you will get through it better if you have some help. For me this year, help will come in the form of getting some good life coaching. An absolute perk of going through Wayfinder Life Coach Training is meeting my beloved fellow Wayfinders, and always having a good coach I can turn to. Some things I will talk to my coach about, or which my clients will be talking to me about include:
How to dig down and make sure I’m doing the holiday stuff that I actually love and is important to me, and not doing or minimizing the things that cause me anxiety or grief. This one is at the root of most of the others.
How to think about gift giving in a reasonable and generous way that fits my time, budget, and values.
What to do about that one relative that no one likes.
How to turn a painful time into a less-painful time.
How to figure out what is important to other people vs. what is important to me, and then how to figure out what to do about that.
Accessing a thought partner to help me make sure I have a plan to do the things I want to do, with as little stress as possible.
How to create new rituals or traditions that resonate with where I/my family are right now.
Tools for staying present.
And all of the other ones you can imagine. We each have our own unique flavor of things that can be difficult at the holidays. A Wayfinder life coach (like me!) can look at these things with you, hold judgment-free, advice-free space for the feelings and thoughts that feel difficult, and help you access your own inner wisdom to find a path forward.
And friends, I cannot tell you this often enough, in enough different ways: trying to feel better is important. It is deeply important. This is one of my recurring themes; one of the messages I am called to share with you: it is not selfish to try to feel better. It is essential. It is the only way you can become yourself, and by becoming yourself, that is how you make the world better. It can be hard to believe and act on, I know. But I’ll say it as often as you need to hear it.
